But, what about ME?

What do you get when you have a husband who is sick, a son who is sick, and both want 100% of your attention at all times?A son who writes all over his body in hopes that you will stop what you are doing long enough to notice he was bad, and then spend the rest of the day holding him, and cuddling him, and worrying only about him, and not his dad. When these two are sick they compete for my attention, which is quite often a task, and most often quite humerous. What about me? NO, what about me? NO, what about me, no me, no me, no ME.....

I told Ray he is not aloud to color all over himself. I can only handle one baby at a time. :)

Batman and a Hippie Chic

For Halloween, we decided to skip the door to door trick-or-treating, and instead headed to the park where our ward was doing a trunk or treat, or park-n- treat as I called it. They made this big circle on the lawn, taped it off, and had the kids walk around the inside of the circle while the adults stood on the outside of the circle handing out candy to each kid as they passed by. After the treats were all handed out they met under the pavilion for donuts and hot cocoa. It was lots of fun seeing what each kid in our ward had chose to be for Halloween, and I think my kids ended up with more candy than they would have had they gone door to door. This year Ellie decided to go as a hippie chic. She was so cute in her decked out costume. I made her head band, bracelet, necklace, and earrings. I wanted her to wear tie dyed leggings, but she chose to go with the polka dot ones. But I still think she made the cutest hippie I have ever seen.Jake went as batman. I found his body costume at a thrift shop for a dollar, and he was so excited that he was able to add it with his cape and mask to make a full costume. When we got to the park there was this little boy who was dressed in a cape and mask who kept following Jake around saying look, look. It was so dang cute. Jake finally turned to his mom and said can you tell him to stop following me. I explained to Jake that this little batman thought Jake was the coolest kid in the whole world. Jake thought about this for a moment and then said ok little batman you can follow me around. Little batman's mom thought it was so cute. After we got home from the park we headed to the store and rented the new Ice Age Movie, and came home and had ourselves a Halloween party.

Carving Pumpkins

We carved pumpkins for family home evening. I got online and let the kids pick the face they wanted to use, and then I cut open the pumpkin, and then let the kids gut their own and then I carved their faces. Our school does a pumpkin walk every year, and each kid is asked to bring a carved pumpkin to school for their class table. Each class is given a theme, and the kids are supposed to decorate their pumpkin accordingly.

Ellie's classes theme was witches, ghosts, and goblins. This was her interpretation of all of the above. She was sad the evening of the pumpkin walk because we could not find her pumpkin. We had taken it to school the morning of, and when we got to her classes table that evening her pumpkin was not with her class. The next morning we found her pumpkin and it had been put in the back of the stage cause someone had broken it. She was pretty sad. I told her of all the pumpkins in her class hers was my very most favorite. Jake's classes theme was happy, sad, grumpy, mad. This is what he chose. His pumpkin looked so cute sitting with his class table, and I think his turned out the cutest. Of course I am the mom and it is my job to think that anything my kids do outshines what any other kid does, right?

Broke Again.....

A year ago on October 19th 2008, Ellie broke her arm. Many of you may remember, we were at Mike and Karen's for Sunday dinner, and she went downstairs, climbed on the treadmill and turned it on. It flipped her off and she came up crying. Ray told her it wasn't broke, but after a day of crying I took her in only to find that it was indeed broke, and so began the journey of two casts. The first one was pink and had been put on too tight, so the Dr. cut it up the side and left it on for a few days until the swelling in her arm went down, then we went in and had a purple cast put on for 6 weeks. After our six weeks was up we went in and she had a brace put on that she had to wear until the first of January. Notice the missing tooth in the above picture, and the below picture. Yes she lost her tooth a few days after her purple cast was put on, and the tooth still has not grown in yet. The dentist says we have no need to worry, she started late with loosing her teeth, and he says we could even possible go another year without seeing the big tooth come in. Now Fast forward to October 22 2009, I am in Brigham at a Dr. appointment when I get a call from the school telling me that Ellie fell from the monkey bars and is crying quite uncontrollably. The school nurse advised that we take her into the Dr, for an X Ray. I called Ray in a panic and asked him to go and pick Ellie up. When I got home she was still crying so I took her into the Dr here in town. They did an X Ray, but said he didn't think it was broke, so he wrapped it up and put it in a sling and sent us home. Well, the we went through the weekend with a crying Ellie who would not bend her arm at all. So Monday I called our Dr in Brigham and was able to take her in. He examined her arm, and then called the other Dr and asked that they send the results to him. We waited for about 20 minutes when he came in and said that after reviewing the results he along with another Dr felt that it was broke.

Ellie asked for a green cast, cut all they had left was pink, blue, or purple, so she went with another purple one. She also found out that she has a bronchial infection, and so the Dr sent us off to get some meds for her. I have now tried to explain to Ellie that breaking her arm is not a good tradition to make. I told her that next year I may put her in a padded room for the week of the of the 17th through the 23rd. I think we have seen enough casts in our family to last a long time, and it is now time to pass the cast torch off to someone else.

Do you BLEED Purple

At our house we are Weber State University Wild Cat fans. We try to BLEED Purple whenever we get the chance, and enjoyed doing so at the football game against Montana State last night. Jake was more than happy to check out the mascot, as long as he kept his distance, and Ellie loved watching the cheer squads. Here is the Wild Cat waving at the kids. Jake would quickly hide behind me every time he thought the cougar was coming over to him. (he was convinced it was really wild because every time their was a good play the crowd would yell wildcats). GO WILDCATS GO!!!!

Feeding the Ducks and Spotting Fall

We spent the day in Ogden feeding the ducks, and having fun at WSU. The kids were quite excited to see snow and fall leaves on the mountain.Ellie put pieces of bread next to her and tried to be very quiet hoping that some ducks would come up close to her and eat the bread.Can you spot Autumn or Winter in any of these next three pictures? Ellie and Jake hope that Grandma and Grandpa Oliphant enjoy the pictures with snow on the mountain, and fall leaves.

Cartwheel Fun

Ellie and Jake had fun playing outside, and doing lots of cartwheels. Ellie is quite a pro, and she was dead set on teaching her little brother her mad skills. Here they are stretching before they start their big lessons.Here Ellie is showing Jake how to turn just right so you can have a perfect landing as she says it.Sher did several cartwheels before she told Jake it was his turn. And then she stepped back and told him to give it a try.Here is Jake giving it his best try. He practiced for quite a while, and then asked Ellie for help.And here is Ellie helping Jake stand on his hands so that he can make the perfect turn. She is such a good teacher.
